This generation has it rough. If you're a boomer, like me, pull your head out of your ass.
I couldn't even qualify for the loan on my house now if I had to do it over again. Biden fricked this generation.

What is your sector of work? Living below your means and working a steady job generally works well until 1,000,000/year poojeets and chinks with H1B visas are in competition with you cuz you work in tech/gaming/visuall arts, or 1,000,000/year immigration from LATAM pushes you out of your skilled labor position. The issue I see with people who finanically struggle these days doesn't seem to be strongly corellated with work ethic, general intelligence or living expenses, it's mainly the result of dramatically diminishing job stability coupled with rising housing prices.

This isn't even to consider the increasingly dystopian environment of western professional (degree-holding) employment, which has essentially consolodated into a cultural monolith expressly dedicated to denigrating white people and keeping parents away from children. With the COVID shit this was brought to a head, coupled with a dose of "alter your personal values and behavior off hours or we'll ruin your career" that came with soft vaccine mandates pushed by employers. Finding stable work now isn't even a probability game anymore, it's a humilation olympic too. Both of these games are rigged against you, the struggling employee.

So considering this, I'd be hesitant to recommend "work hard" and "save up" are universally applicable strategies for financial success in this day and age.

you do know that's exceptionally rare right? and if you're not making it up you should analyze your success to understand where it comes from proper otherwise you're in the same boat as those lottery winning burnouts.

You need to have been making a substantial sum, not living on your own, and gotten a hand out or inheritance, alternatively you could have started a business, which most fail and those that succeed usually are because of money laundering. Or you copied nancy pelosi's portfolio.

        >>you do know that's exceptionally rare right?
no i dont think so, at the time i was only making 80k a year as the single source of income for my family. i bought a house at 25 that i could afford, i was making less than 60k a year at that point. i had no inheritance, and my only help was living at home with my parents until i could pay off my 45k in student loans.
its entirely doable, had i had no help in paying off my loans i would only be set back in how long it took to pay everything off, but id still have a home.

If you were born in the third world you will be a homeless dude selling junk for food in a favela

            >you have no argument
The post I made was in response to a LARPer claiming he "owned a house by 28". That's an exceptional claim, so when asked for more info, his response was basically "work hard and save up". My post (which obviously neither of the responders read entirely) attacked this strategy, because "working hard" only matters when job stability is guaranteed, and "save up" only matters if your money isn't being inflated into tissue paper.

/misc/ is the *dumbest* board on this site, without a doubt. Literal redditors can read 500 words, but the average /misc/Black person can't make it past one sentence.

I had nothing going for me for a while too, poor with no prospects. Then I decided to just ditch everything and move to Ukraine for 6 years of uni, best decision of my life. Wined and dined regularly, made a bunch of solid friends, went out practically every weekend. Got my med degree 6 years later.
There's a total shortage of doctors so every private clinic and hospital is utterly desperate for fresh graduates. They literally begged me to work for them for x4 the median salary while also offering to pay my rent. It's insane how things can change if you just think outside the box and take action.

Like a quarter of men under 30 are in the same situation as you. And another quarter have jobs and pay taxes and are just as alone and miserable with no hope or direction. Most of the rest are just pussywhipped servants who will get divorced at some point in the next 10 years and be turned into a child support slave for the rest of time. If you compare your life to gigachad who gets given everything everywhere he goes and has unlimited sex; you will be miserable. This is the social media problem, and if it's any consolation; women are just as fricked up, if not more fricked up, by that issue than men are.

It might be difficult to see, but the grass isn't greener on the other side for the supermajority of men. If it's any consolation; civilization is about to disappear in a firestorm. So the way I see it you have two main options:

Live on out of spite, prepare for the shitstorm that is about to come (learn useful skills, get armed and equipped, have a stable food supply somehow), and when everyone else will have nothing, you will suddenly find yourself pretty close to the top of the ladder.
    or
have a nice day. People say this as though it is a bad thing, but really, there is no shame in just getting off this nightmarish merry-go-round now instead of 20 or 30 or 40 or 50 years from now. Regardless of what you do, you won't be remembered in 100 years anyway. You have a right to end your own suffering if there is no real way to get out of it, and that suffering isn't meaningful. A dignified death is all that men can really hope for, and this will begin to dawn on men over the coming decade. If you are going to die, you might as well die doing something useful. And if what you do is useful enough, then ironically you will be remembered for a while.

Join a BJJ gym. There’s a reason so many people are doing it. New friendships, vigorous exercise, learning a new skill, the art is based on superior technique and no amount of bragging or fakery can replace real proficiency in it. You need human contact, exercise, and personal development, it’s $200 a month and the balls to get on the mat away. I’ve seen it turn around depression and loneliness in men over and over.
