how do I break up with my gf in such a way that minimizes the chance of bringe burning?

how do I break up with my gf in such a way that minimizes the chance of bringe burning?

in a couple of days I'm going to her place, and I plan on breaking up with her then.

Reason: she's in love with me, but I am either not or cannot read my own emotions, so I'm thinking it's best to break up and see how I feel afterwards

      >Hey, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and I don’t think I’m ready to jump into this 100%. I’ve enjoyed our time together but something just doesn’t click for me at this time. I was hoping we could break up in good terms, and I totally understand if you’re angry with me over this.

Something along this line should do the trick. Just be aware that the bridge burning depends entirely on her stance on the issue. Some people really don’t want any contact with their exes, specially if intense feelings were involved. I would totally be friends with someone I’d had sex twice, but I wouldn’t be a friend of a woman I dated for 5 years.

“Is it something I did?” “Is it because I’m fat? “I can change”
          >No. Don’t take it personal, I just need to sort some shit up with myself.

If you feel the need/desire to come back do it sooner rather than later. She’ll go through a brief (weeks-months) grieving process and then move on. If that window passes, you’ll have to wait a while to try again (a year, or five).

it'll be regret. it may not happen immediately, but you will at some point end up regretting ditching someone who loves you just to see what else is out there.

yeah well, finding out what I feel is better than staying in a relationship that I don't know how to feel about

right. and then in two weeks when she's moved on and doesn't want to talk to you anymore, then you'll really know.

          I don't care
I refuse to stay in a comfortzone when it means I don't figure out my own feeling and wtf I want from life

if you don't care, then why'd you make the thread? anyway, no, there is really no surefire way to break a girl's heart and have them stick around while you "figure shit out" lmfao.

I don't think you can really go into this expecting a bridge to not be burned. You've been dating for almost a year, this is gonna be really difficult for her. That said, you shouldn't be in a relationship if you aren't feeling it, but understand that even if you get back together after breaking up the relationship will never go back to being the same

it's literally my first ever actual relationship
I can't just stay in it when I don't have the feelings she has for me just because I'm scared of regret

I'm not saying you should stay, I think you should break up. Just don't expect her to wait for you while you figure out your shit

how does not burning a bridge mean preventing someone from moving on?
