      nice mentally challenged take

They don't see you as an individual person. The see you the same way as some automated payment terminal. So you can't take personal offense as they didn't even consider you in any kind of personal way.

this. shoppers dont care who is cashiering.

Pretty much this. Boomers will talk to you but it will be all about themselves and they see you as their property.

I remember I was friends with this boomer lady one time. She used to buy me all sorts of food and stuff. Nice lady.

This is what burns me up the most honestly. The ones who at least pretend to recognize me as a sapient being at a comfortable medium are alright. Ones who babble on about meaningless bullshit for what feels like eternity give me suicidal thoughts but that's whatever. But the ones who just spit out commands like you're a robot make me want to wrap my hands around their neck until I see the life drain from their eyes. One fat boomer b***h comes in every now and then and just says "Montego menthol silver, 2 packs" or whatever it is in this monotone voice as if to answer "Hey, what can I get for you?" even though I didn't ask. It's more common with hispanics but at least they have the excuse of not being born into the language of the evil, racist, oppressive country they chose to move to.

    >If a customer doesn't acknowledge my existence, are there ways to not get my feelings hurt over that?
Yes, your feelings are part of your consciousness and thus you have control over them. To not get upset, don't get upset.
    Here's the better question.
    >I keep trying to be insecure and thinking poorly of myself because people like that cashier don't like me. How do I cope?
You don't, keep eating shit. Either fix your insecurity or get used to depression.

The last time I was friendly with a cashier she was an ugly fat girl and started being flirty with me when I came in, which made me uncomfortable since I'm an autist and I stopped going to that store. I try not to be friendly with employees anymore to avoid this.

Consider that you can't always help what they say.
If you think you make some mistakes, maybe working on that can be fine. Perhaps apologizing as well.

One is not what other people say, or think. Neither status and social position.
What matters can be slightly more internal.

Trying in general to do what you consider right could help a bit.

And considering that people can be appreciated, even if they could have made mistakes. Holding compassion. For others, and yourself.

No. You can't "not get your feelings hurt", you are not in control of your emotions.
However you can control your actions. Be a kind person, say hi to these people, extend the olive branch.
Some of them are unappreciative buttholes who see you as sub-human, but usually it's not personal and they are just awkward.

Around 60% of the time you will get a positive response that makes it easier to get through the day.
