It may not be cheating but if you keep it from them and aren't honest about it then it is, at a minimum, deception. Hiding something from someone because you know they would be upset if they found out is essentially lying by omission. Its perfectly fine to not be exclusive with someone yet while dating but if that's the case then there should be no issue with having an honest conversation and letting them know you're hooking up with other people. Be honest with the people in your life, OP. Don't be a dick.

every single person does this when dating. do you expect me to tell them all my fetishes I fap to as well? it's not cheating by definition so it's not like they need to know

        >do you expect me to tell them all my fetishes I fap to as well?
That's a dogshit comparison and you know it. There is no reasonable expectation that the person you're dating disclose the details of their porn usage. It is a reasonable expectation that the person you're dating not have sex with other people behind your back. Exclusivity is the primary difference between casually dating someone and being in a committed relationship. It makes or breaks relationships. If you purposefully withhold information from someone about your exclusivity with them because you know they'd be unhappy with the state of the relationship if they found out then you're lying to them, period. There's no weaseling your way out of that.

NTA, I agree but isn't the whole premise of the thread about hooking up with someone while you're NOT in a committed relationship?

It doesn't matter if you have or have not done anything sexual. If you aren't in a relationship and aren't using bf/gf you aren't dating. Can you read?

Are you moronic? Do you know that there is a difference between dating and being in a relationship? They are different words for a reason. Gf/bf don't "date", they are a couple. Two people dating aren't gf/bf, they are dating.

Dating phase doesn't last long, but you can't call it relationship during that phase. It's dating. It's the time you figure out whether you WANT a relationship or not

No, but two people who ARE bf/gf ARE dating.

            >No, but two people who ARE bf/gf ARE dating.
No, they are in a relationship.
Two people to refer to each other as girlfriend and boyfriend are no longer "dating", they are in a self ascribed relationship.

They are also dating. My wife(f) and I are married. We are also in a relationship. We are also dating (at least as of last night).

You're fricking moronic. This is the vernacular.

        >Flirting, clearly interested, zero dates yet
        We're 'talking'

        >Been on one date, no second date planned
        I went out with her/him

        >Been on multiple dates, no bf/gf label
        We're 'going out' or I'm 'seeing' him/her

        >Begin using bf/gf label, have been going on dates for less than 6 months
        We're 'in a relationship' or we're 'dating'

        >Using bf/gf for longer than 6 months
We're a 'couple' or "she's my gf," "he's my bf"

What book told you these are the rules?
If you call a girl your girlfriend, wouldn't you say you're in a relationship with her? Otherwise, would you be able to have multiple girlfriends, as you're able to date multiple women?

Do you not see how the label defines a relationship?
