Yes, but you do realize that everyone is going to Hell. I am not being an edgelord, but I am a puritan by faith, I think that we are all sinners, save for those who devoted their lives to salvation.

Yes, it’s a sin. The simple reason that it’s onanism — when we jerk off, we misuse and outright reject the gift of sexuality that God has endowed us with by disorderly going against its intended purpose; to be given to our spouse.

The more complicated reasoning is that it’s a sin that often comprises more sin, such as lustful idolatry and fantasy, as well as adultery of the heart if a man chooses to fawn for other women in his masturbatory fixations.

We are all sinners. Those devoted to salvation included. Even the saints themselves had sinned. So it’s not clear who goes to Hell and who doesn’t, only God knows.

        >Yes, it’s a sin. The simple reason that it’s onanism — when we jerk off, we misuse and outright reject the gift of sexuality that God has endowed us with by disorderly going against its intended purpose; to be given to our spouse.
        Nope.

        >Then Judah said to Onan, “Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to raise up offspring for your brother.” But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother. What he did was wicked in the Lord’s sight;

Onan’s sin was not sexual. Rather, it was his refusal to fulfill the obligation of levirate marriage, according to which a man was obligated to impregnate the wife of his brother if his brother had died without an heir, thus ensuring the continuation of his brother’s line and inheritance.

        >The more complicated reasoning is that it’s a sin that often comprises more sin, such as lustful idolatry and fantasy, as well as adultery of the heart if a man chooses to fawn for other women in his masturbatory fixations.

Correct, lust and adultery are sins. Masturbation is not.

          >Correct, lust and adultery are sins. Masturbation is not.

And what do you suppose men dwell on when they jerk off?

Also we don’t need to rely on only Onan’s story
          1 John 2:16
          >For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.

          1 Peter 2:11
          >Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.

          1 corinthians 6:18
          >Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.

          Galatians 5:16
          >So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

          Romans 13:14
          >Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.

          1 Theolossians 4:3-5
          >It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;

It would take a great deal of cognitive dissonance to read these verses and insist on masturbation being an exception from sin.

You do know that “sexual immorality”, or porneia in the original Koine Greek, is a nebulous term that changes depending on who was talking, right? Originally it meant sexual practices considered unnatural to Greek sensibilities (which was like incest, maybe), but as it was adopted by other cultures within Hellenistic kingdoms, it became a catch-all term for sexual practices the speaker doesn’t like. In the context of a Syrian Judean like Paul, or a Galilean, it probably referred to adultery and sex with slaves, animals, prostitutes and children.

As far as evidence that masturbation itself is considered a sin, it’s pretty weak. The OT is deafening in its silence on the topic - Onan got got for disobeying a direct order from God. Splooging on your sheets DID make you ritually unclean, but that would logically be evidence that God is pro-masturbation, as this would prevent the unclean thing from occurring.

Regarding references to “lust”, I’d direct you to Matthew 5:27-28, where Jesus talks about lust as a sin, but his example illustrates that INTENT is the important thing. If you see a married woman and have the desire (but not the ability) to sex her up, you’re judged on your intent rather than your (lack of) action. In this context, fantasising about (marrying and) having sex with single women of appropriate age, or better yet, a woman you made up in your head, appears to be permissible.

So fap away boys, as it will keep you ritually clean. Read or imagine erotic stories and make up women in your head if you’re really worried about sinning.

No. It's not mentioned at all. the part in Genesis about onan is specifically about disobeying God when pulling out instead of getting a girl pregnant

Yes masturbation is a sin because it's a form of sex. The Bible very clearly says the ONLY acceptable form of sex is between one husband and one wife.
You're making a mockery of sex by simulating your hand being a vegana.
Not to mention WHEN do you jerk off? When you're inflamed with lust.
    Lust is a sin.
What are you watching/thinking about when you jerk off? Women, sex, fornication. Lustful things.
Not to mention masturbation is harmful for the body and shameful. Your body is the temple of God, treat it as such.

Jesus and God told me, not u.
But you'll go to hell if you don't obey. Trust me. Hand it over.

Yes. Read Matthew "it is written 'thou shalt not be adulterous', but I say to you 'if you think of another woman lustfully you are guilty of adultery"

And the epistles about sexual immorality. That being recreational straight sex outside of marriage, homosexuality, masturbation, etc.

Are you in an apostolic church? If you're orthodox, RC, or Lutheran, you have confession you can go to for the absolution of your sin. I know you feel guilty because you made a thread about it. Address that, and seek forgiveness.

Yes it's a sin, and I know for a fact because after I had my first aware encounter with the Holy Spirit I went from being a near chronic addict to being completely devoid of any lust or physical desire (on day 119 of nofap and I have not felt a single notion of sexual desire the whole time). Gone, just like that. God clearly did not want it in my life, and He wants you to be free of it too. Have you prayed about this?
Best of luck friend, I can say a prayer for you if you'd like.

      Extremely based and blessed.
We know it when the Holy Spirit convicts us.
I would be extremely concerned if I did not feel convicted when I willingly sin....that's not a good sign...

To add to this, if you're willingly sinning and not feeling convicted, then that could be an indicator that you're not in tune with the Holy Spirit or listening for His voice (vital for any Christian). Idk what your church is like OP but there has been some churches I've visited that don't even focus on that, if you don't have people in your life that talk about valuing and working for that connection then you would really benefit from finding some. I wasn't touched by the Holy Spirit myself until I was prayed over by other people, because I didn't even understand the significance of it on my own.

When you do something wrong you get used to it and that nagging feeling that what your doing is not correct goes away the more you do bad things, same for good.

To sin is to miss the mark, aiming incorrectly. When masterbating what are you aiming at? Does it bring you closer towards a larger goal? Do you feel any pride or sense of accomplishment for what you've done? Clearly not. You know you could be more. The reason you ask this question is because part of your conscious or god calls out to you causing you to question.

Is jacking it the worst sin in the world? No not even close, but it definitely is one of them.

If you want to be pedantic, it never mentions masturbation, so it alone is not a sin. That said, as has already been said multiple times in this thread, you cannot jerk off (typically)without lustful thoughts which are very much condemned in the Bible multiple times.

Leviticus 15 speaks against it. But we in this modern age have came up with snazzy catchphrases for it and making humor out of it. And even encouraging each other to do it. That chapter still applies to us in this modern age.

    Matthew 5:17-18
    >[17]“Do not think that I have come to do away with the Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets. I have not come to do away with them, but to make their teachings come true.
    >[18]Remember that as long as heaven and earth last, not the least point nor the smallest detail of the Law will be done away with — not until the end of all things.

And Yeshua pretty much says not to use your hand or your eyes to sin in Matthew 5. Your look at the porn with your eyes and use your hand to jerk off. He even speaks against feet fetishes in Matthew 18:8. Combine [looking] at porn and using your [hand] to jerk off to [foot] porn, and top it off with you [ejaculating], and you pretty much broke God's command not to do it. It's rebellious. That sort of thing gets punished and leads you to a sorrowful life.

Plus, notice how AIDs and HIV and other STDs can be transmitted to someone just by coming into contact with their sperm. God set up rules for a reason lol. Just can't be stupid and ignore them.

A priest told me it wasn't because the sin is to waste your sperm but if you aren't in a position to use it to make children (e.g. you're a priest of too young to be married), it's OK.
