My sister and I tried sleeping together last night

Last night I went to the bathroom and when I came back my sister was laying in my bed. I moved her and embraced her, she just let me, she told me that she was feeling lonely in her room and that she wanted to sleep with me.
We had dinner and then she brought her pillow to my bed, I turned off the lights and we embraced each other.
We entangled our arms and legs, we were facing each other at first.
Throughout the night we went through many positions, we hugged, then we spooned, I was the big spoon, she was the big spoon...
But a few hours in we realized it wasn't working, we were uncomfortable and couldn't sleep at all. I ended up dragging her mattress to my room, put it right next to my bed and she moved there after a little spooning.

We want to try again, we really want to be able to spend a whole night together.
Do you have any advice to share?

This isn't sexual btw.

What does this have to do with /adv/?
Like are asking for advice on something or just hear to brag about cuddling with your sister?

We still want to manage to spend a whole night together, you know, trust and love and family and all that. We didn't spend our childhood together so we kinda wanna do this

You can do the way actual siblings to when they are young instead of like lovers.
So you get one side of the bed with your pillow and blanket, she gets her own side of the bed with pillow and blanket, and spend most of the night just sleeping.
Siblings don't spoon all night hugged up against each other. That shit is uncomfortable and generally you don't like them like that. Only time sleeping huddled up is comfy is when it's cold and the heat is broke (aka mom didn't pay the heating bill again). Then the extra warmth is appreciated.

Look I get wanting skinship with your kin to make up for lack of bonding but you ain't doing it like kinfolk typically do it.
My advice is to spend some tv/movie time together just chilling all tangled up together for your skinship fix and leave bed time for sleeping. If you do want to share a bed then the focus should still be on sleep, not cuddling.
You have your spot on the bed, she has her spot on the bed and you try to stay in that area while sleeping if you can.

I ain't accusing you of anything. I instead will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume y'all never slept with anyone platonically before.

And yes, I know this stuff from sleeping in the same bed as other family and friends growing up. Ain't nothing to it.

That's pretty good advice, I'll take it.
Yes, it's the first time either of us shares a bed with someone

Yuck man I would feel so gross laying so close to either of my sisters. It would be too weird

Well, we felt that way too, we have been living together for a while now and it was never a topic, just last night we were like "hey, let's sleep together", "okay, but let's enjoy it to the fullest", that's why we ended up all tangled up and what not. Ultimately it was uncomfortable and we split, but we want to try again

Figure out what makes you two uncomfortable.
    Fix it.
    Sleep with your sister.

      Our arms went numb

Find position where your arms won't get numb. For example, I assume your sister is shorter than you, in that case, you can put your arm under her neck. Or move your right arm to your side (assuming you sleep on right side).
Have you never slept with other person before?
