You don't need a whole ass book just for 4 points or so that the guy conveys
        >replace bad habits with good ones
        >stack habits and do the after each other
        >create a routine and do the habits at the same time
has been a while since I've read that book maybe he had 1 or 2 additional points

I "wasted" way too much time with self improvement books, they can be useful, don't get me wrong, but I worked hard on improving my life in areas that I really couldn't care less about and I'm still pretty depressed
like who cares if I have a nice job if I'm a friendless khhv loser y'know? I'd trade everything for an instant just to have a normalgay minimum wage worker life

are those really your main takeaways from the book? I found that the most important point for me was the "make good habits easy and bad habits hard" line, and the whole deal about having ridiculously simple goals (like instead of running for 15m, just putting on your shoes) in the habit setting phase

            >are those really your main takeaways from the book?
I have read it like 4 years ago and barely remember it, 'productivity hacks' like they are described in the book are just a meme

i did, it's just words. self improvement is a meme.

The self improvement industry is a meme while self improvement itself isn't

Dad got me this when I was 15 or so. Only really use the principle of asking questions, but it slaps and with some practice talking to taxi drivers I feel like I can hold a conversation with a bum or King Charles don't matter.

that book is a fricking meme. it's made by a normalgay for normalgays. autists can't benefit from normalgay advice because our minds are so fundamentally different

This must only work for normal people. After a few days of trying to "install" good habits in a routine I legit want to kms. I seriously get extremely depressed.

where's the book that makes technology disappear after 5pm so I can sleep consistently enough to form habits?
oh, it doesn't exist? In order to escape the panopticon I have to just quit my job and become a hobo in the woods?
    welp

I got it on audiobook, listened to the whole thing, and got it refunded. It was 5 hours long and could have been an 8 minute youtube essay.

    >virgin neets
this book is about stacking up a bunch of minor optimizations to add up to a big shift in life. it doesn't matter how optimized a neets life is if they're neet. It's like fine tuning the aerodynamics of a car with no engine in it.

It sounds like that philosophy that the Japanese used during the reconstruction period. It clearly worked for them. I think my plan going forward is to force myself to do at least one insane and unexpected thing every day that would not normally do or try to forbid myself to do things I normally do. Break the conditioning as Alex Jones would say.

What if I'm so cynical that I would only meta-analyze any of those books without ever really giving them a chance? Imagine someone so cynical that he can't take pretty much any advice seriously

That's not being cynical, that's being a coward.

I find myself more often than not wondering what was the author's intention, how he would do it himself, if he's an hypocrite, if other people who read it actually follow the suggestions and their success rates, wondering if they take it serious and how seriously the author would've expected me to take it

after reading lots of self improvement books and tips, trying lots of different stuff and not being able to change, i concluded that theres no technique or magic trick to improving yourself you either do it or you dont at the end of the day
