Termination Due to Sexual Orientation ?

I have worked at my current job for three years. During this time, I started taking Adderall, a medication for psychological treatment, which led to a period of hypomania. This change improved my depression and anxiety, but it also made me more talkative and loud, according to my colleagues.

Their attitude towards me shifted negatively, and after raising concerns about unfair treatment, I was compelled to take a two-week leave. During this period, my supervisor even inquired about my sexual orientation.

Upon returning to work, I endured for five more months of undue scrutiny. However, I was abruptly terminated after a complaint I filed against my supervisor was confirmed.

Currently, there’s an investigation into whether my dismissal was due to my sexual orientation. I have gathered a collection of emails from the office server which exhibit a pattern of homophobic behavior and consistently demonstrate my excellent performance over the past four years.

Given these circumstances, I’m questioning if my termination was indeed due to my being gay.

You weren't fired for being gay, you were fired for acting like a homosexual. The same thing would have happened if you were being a homosexual about being straight.

      Interesting take sir.

Nice job keeping those records. Cal every attorney office in town. Discrimination lawsuits are goldmines. Especially because your employer fired you in violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act

Attorneys take cases like yours for free and then take part of your settlement or award

My lawyer says i should wait for the internal investigation to complete b4 any legal action. At the end of the investigation, there will be a report i can take pics of. They do internal interviews and stuff. So will be interesting to see what they dig up.

Makes me think of the South Park sketch about being a homosexual. Worth it to look up if you haven't seen it.

You sound fricking obnoxious. They probably fired you because you were loud and couldn't shut the frick up. Stop taking the israelite pills, it's already destroying your life.

Not even true at all. Most of my chats/convos were online. Most id do in the office is small chit chat. Thing is, theres a clear pattern of homophobia in the office, its very subtle but took me a while to figure out too.

Come on man, are you doing it on purpose ? You never tell your boss he is wrong. If he makes mistakes, you correct it and say you found small errors but you never directly tell him it's his fault. The problem is not you sucking wiener and taking it in the ass. The problem is you're a shithead on Adderall.

Did you even read my post. I was being scrutinized by this guy for months. Then i had to deal with the fallout from his mistakes, since they became my problem while he was out on leave. And thennn, some colleague snitched on me for fixing a mistake ! Which a supervisor literally said was okay to do when i asked

Then, i was threatened with a write up for doing something i was told i can do lmao.

Then for 3 months, the whole team was targeting me for anything. Timekeeping, you name it. I was under a microscope every minute, with every colleague suddenly pointing out the tiniest, most meaningless things . Basically, there was a campaign against me by the leader, and i got targeted by 6 people, but they couldnt find any performance issues, so i got fired for some other dubious reason lol.

So yeah i have all my emails - all professional, with a mix of camaraderie to those based on their expectations.

This only started after i pointed out unfair treatment. Before that, everything i did was okay - for 3 damn years haha so bizarre

I’ve noticed a recurring trend of customer mistreatment by management, but I can’t go into too much detail.

It took about six months, but I eventually realized and tied that into my own unfair treatment.

Adderall isn't an anxiety medication, so this just sounds like you're really enjoying the amphetamine high. People with "ADHD" will really go "wow I'm finally able to focus for 12 hours solidly on one menial task without blinking or eating. I can't believe this is how normal people feel all the time!!!"
Anon, enjoy this while it lasts. You either have to live with these effects fading over time, up the dosage to keep it going, or switch to meth

I mentioned I have cyclothymia (bipolar 3). I know stimulants can trigger mania, but they also boost my mood when paired with a mood stabilizer. So, I’m pretty much a hyperactive person with occasional low-energy moments.

ADHD and bipolar have similar symptoms, so many with bipolar also have ADHD. By the way, children with high IQs are at a higher risk of developing Bipolar disorder when they reach adulthood.

While it's technically illegal to fire you for your sexual orientation, people will still do it.
Also note that "fired for being gay" and "fired for acting horny" are different things.
E.g. if you work in a daycare and you fondle e-girls in VRchat, that's fine. But if you try to fondle the IRL e-girls, you accidentally fall down the stairs a few times while taking advice from some motorcycle guys.
It's like that but with gay.

    >hypomania
That's the reason they could not stand you.
    You became insufferable.
They not fired you sooner because where afraid of being accused of homophobia, unironically.
This should be discussed with your psy doctor, and your medication adjusted accordingly.

I was pretty well-liked at work, except by two supervisors and the boss, which is kind of funny. I’ve got evidence to back that up, even after my hypomanic episodes, which honestly felt more like ADHD to me.

Initially, I didn’t think my issues at work were about my sexuality, I just attributed everything to mental health stuff. But a couple of months in, I overheard some remarks that came off as homophobic, and that’s when it hit me – maybe it was about me being gay.

It's not. You're just insufferable when you are on meds. Go see a doctor and tell him you need to change them or adjust the dosage because it turns you into a mess.

          Anonymous

Righttt, because I was in a constant state of hypomania – that’s exactly how cyclothymia works, isn’t it?

Anyway, it’s not legal to fire someone for becoming disabled at work, particularly when there’s no evidence of performance issues.

Being under intense scrutiny for no apparent reason for nearly a year would drive anyone to the edge. The fact that I managed it for over a year, while maintaining top-tier performance, really speaks volumes about my mental resilience, ironically.

      Anonymous

They first blamed it on performance issues, yet they didn’t provide any evidence to support that claim. On the contrary, I have received top-tier feedback from customers. Given this, the notion that I’m not likable seems unlikely, especially considering my consistently performance and the positive feedback

I don't believe this delusional homosexual.

What happened is you suck at your job, probably talk all shift, and act innapropiately.

Seen this a million times with homosexuals. The one at my store tried to smoke weed on shift with a 16 year old cashier. Cashier said he made her uncomfortable, fired:

You guessed it. Sued for discrimination.

          1. Discrimination based on disability.

you got fired because you dont get along with the team anymore, aka bad fit. im pretty sure thats the core issue. doesnt matter if youre straight or gay, if you piss off the manager they´re gonna let you go.
Next time dont show up to work drugged up, if you do, explain it to them that you´re doing adderall. If they still b***h about it, frick me

It wasn’t just about getting along with my team; I had good relationships with most colleagues. But I had issues with my supervisors and the boss.

Regarding the timing, it’s important to note that things got worse when I mentioned my prescribed Adderall use, mental health, and sexuality, after interrogation by my direct supervisor.

To clarify, my doctor said I needed Adderall, and I was always open about it to avoid misunderstandings at work.

In short, my termination seems to be about more than just teamwork. There was extra scrutiny after my disclosures, especially when HR filed a complaint on my behalf about potential discrimination, leading to six people targeting me at once.

Also, there’s this pattern of behavior from the boss that could be interpreted as discriminatory. This pattern suggests a deeper problem that needs to be addressed.
