It’s free to lvl 20 but you can’t trade or AH anymore. I used to use a free character to make enough hold to pay for subscription.

I play free now after a seed investment of a few WoW tokens. Not sharing my gold making strategies here but I can even buy other games with WoW gold.

That is the escapism. Real life not being interesting enough to you. You didn't just start hating. You always did. Mentally healthy people don't get high when they do something they enjoy. I'm telling you out of personal experience, because I did it too. Keep coping if you want, that's your choice, but the suffering you feel will pass my friend. Just be patient and try to enjoy a creative activity. Enjoyment won't happen immediately, it's a skill you have to keep practicing at, but you will find enjoyment in things other than video games and drugs. I promise you.

You're provided for. You're not trapped. Like I said, the despair, depression and boredom you feel will pass, but you have to let it by not trying to stay high all the time (I don't just mean doing drugs).

Whatever events you were referring don't matter. The point is that you feel a particular way towards the situation you find yourself in, or more generally, life. You think it's one way, probably shit, because of the negative emotions I've mentioned. It isn't shit, and I know if you would like to not feel that anymore, you can find a way without clinging to fake worlds and drugs.

Brother, it isn't about finding joy. Clinging to joy is no different than clinging to weed. Trying to stay high all the time. Find balance and trust within yourself. You've made it this far, even as a schizo, and trust me I know the feeling. I was legit looking over my shoulder at my wife cause I thought she was actually going to kill me.

We've been hurt, let down, and lied to in our lives. Finding trust doesn't come easy, but I'm telling you that it's ok to trust that things will work out. Even for no reason at all. You'll be alright brother, I promose you that.

That said, your time isn't so valuable that you can't engage in meaningless diversion from time to time, especially when it keeps you from getting yourself in trouble out of boredom in your down time.

Warcraft was absolutely great back in the day. Information available en-mass and community perception knocked it down for the average player. Became harder and harder to find people who were just interested in doing random shit over the years. Everything required a purpose or a reward at the end and guides for the optimal route to obtain all of that are out before the content even launches. Choosing to play how you feel like is frowned upon in even the lowest echelons of players. You basically open up a guide when you log in and follow the steps until your character has what you set out to get and then you quit.

I do get it though. Once you have the option to optimize gameplay it is very hard to go back to not doing that. Despite the game being a literal waste of time, you feel like you are actually wasting your time if you aren't doing things "properly".

I do not believe MMORPGs will ever thrive again until there is a VR option that plays well.

That's the problem with all games. As cool as streaming is, it watered down gaming big time, and also made people npcs for the meta. Pick an off choice hero in dota and teammates in shit tiers will rage before the game even started

        Anonymous

But I agree that it's understandable why it happens, especially in games like wow. No one wants to waste time clearing shit a lot slower because someone wanted to do their own thing, even if doing your own thing is a more complete experience imo

Good always triumphs over evil, cause they have the best gamers. But they get farmed a lot cause they have too much sex and grouping up is annoying. Most of the time it's noobs getting ganked by a stoned warlock or a couple sociopath rogues

man, I remember in my teens I had this friend that was good looking but a nerd, and we used to spent full weeks sperging on wow and dofus.
I saw him reject thots just over farming item or a dungeon, I used to be such a beta I couldnt understand it, for me it was like this man is fricking up. But as I grew older and start to get pussy on my own, I totally understand him.
Its like those virgins that watch a video of a girl being executed and they be like "what a waste of pussy"...

Also, we are talking about old mmos here... I would forcegrip my balls before returning to wow now.

For me, talking to other people just shuts down my brain or something. I don't look down on them or anything, light just goes out irl. One of the reasons I preferred gaming. Things were interesting, even bs in chat

Tell me you're young without telling me you're young. Also, gaming in the 90s was literally 95%+ white males.

I hate that I missed out on it.
I was alive at the right time and heard ton of people play it, but never got into it because frick the idea of paying monthly for a game. I pirated all of my games anyways.
Played a bit of classic when it came out to see what it was like and it was fun, though it's clear the community part of it is essential.
Unfortunately due to everyone knowing the game inside out and the modern style of minmaxing everything instead of experiencing things, it's not the same trying to experience it now.
Still I'm glad I tried classic, got a faint idea of what it might have been like.

TBC was peak WoW, because it was the last time things weren't completely crazy. Smartphones didn't exist, minmaxing was only done by a handful, the game wasn't casualized with no social interactions (shut the frick up about muh flying) and everything was soulful as frick.
I miss it so much bros.

I was 14 when I had the foresight to see what WotlK systems and general game design would do to it and 15 years later I have been completely right. This was when I first started getting redpilled about humans consuming shit and not able to think logically about the future.

If the guys running the matrix banned social media and smart phones, and restricted forum usage (to a degree), mmos would last many more years I think. We would be buying girl farts in jars and eating bugs in no time

World of Warcraft was garbage in all instances because they never had it working well with all of its aspects. They had RP Servers without unique RP elements. They had PVP servers without faction balance and a way to make PVP finance PVP activities, for which you still needed to gather money and items from PVE content. They made their PVE servers about raids-raids-raids instead of offering a variety of PVE content or making leveling make sense: tech the class, the chosen role, group play or at least having good faction story and quests available for either tank, dps or healer instead of designing it all for dps only except for the elite quests.

Crafting was mostly overpriced garbage with recipes that often made no sense, also where and with which chance to get them and what's even available, like blacksmiths lacking the ability to craft any shield in classic and some time past it. Additionally they ruined crafting by introducing account-bound gear, so that players having it would never need any crafted gear from anyone for these slots.

They constantly mixed PVE and PVP via quests and achievements to force players into content they didn't enjoy just to get these done, like during the Children's Week event, during which it's your job to ruin the PVP gameplay of your team to get the achievements.

They built a system in which you can solo old content by outleveling and outgearing it, entirely undermining how a MMO should be played. They called the game and "MMORPG" but removed all MMO aspects by introducing automatic group finders across servers, leading to players not forming friendships and groups on their server anymore but screwing each other over like in a zero trust society. The game is also hardly a RGP: You can't assign your stats like you could in Diablo, unique effect equipment only was a thing in Classic and rarely ever seen after it, gameplay concepts got removed and dumbed down instead of being refined, like in the case of resistances.
