It's actually illegal to buy most food directly from Farmers in the USA.
The USDA requires that food be sold through approved central distributors for quality control purposes. We have to exploit some gay legal loophole to buy a half a beef from my own cousin. All the beef he sells us has to be packaged with some kind of legal disclaimer on it saying that this food is not for sale or distribution or some gay shit.

I don't have a chest freezer to store large amounts of meat in, can only store maybe 10 lbs each of chicken, ground beef, and pork in mine. it's whatever, I have a local grocer with a butcher shop that regular gets good deals on any one of those 3 and I just stock up on and freeze them while they're cheap.

      Anonymous

Invest in a chest freezer. Even a smaller one that's 4-5 cubic feet is a game changer. I got one on a whim because it was marked down due to being dented (the structural integrity of the actual freezer part was fine, it was just ugly and wobbled) and it's crazy how useful they are. Freezer space is one of those things like square footage in a house; you'll quickly grow to fill any space you're given. Suddenly when pork chops are marked down to $2.49/lb you don't have to do math on "how many can I fit," you simply buy all 30lbs and freeze them.

aren't you bothered by the smell or by mosquitos when you collect water in these plastic pots under the plants ?

            Anonymous

If he put window screenwire over it and use a submersible fountain pump, it wouldn't be able to have mosquitoes in it. As for the smell, well that's because of not enough light. With enough light then there would be algae that would eat all the stuff that smelly bacteria would, so there's no smell because the smelly bacteria would starve out. A couple of goldfish in there would also aid in that.

Because it doesn't save that much. Cheap cuts of beef are about $8/lb. A whole cow will average about $6/lb of usable meat. Also you need a place to store it. The electricity to run two chest freezers will be about $100 a year. So while yes, it is technically worth it, it's a lot of work for minimal gain. In general I just wait for things to be marked down and buy them for the freezer. If you shop on off days like Monday or Tuesday you can usually get beef that approaches $6/lb anyways without any of the hassle of buying a whole cow.

The idea is that the protein is low per volume and that its amino acid profile relative to that of flesh is lacking. You’ll ruin your teeth with starches, give yourself diabeetus, and fail to maintain muscle mass over time. You’re already dead.

They're also so trivially cheap that I don't need to save money on them. I can get a 20lb bag of race at Walmart for like $12 and it will last 6 months. I spend more on chicken breast for a week of meals than I do on all the rice I use across 26 weeks. It's penny wise pound foolish to not prioritize saving money on meat.

Because farmers are also forced to vaccinate their cows, chickens and other farm animals for human consumption.
It's in your fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy, everything.
Even ChickFilA announced in March that April they will used vaccinated chickens.
