Wife got autism diagnosis. Im thinking about divorce

She just got her diagnosis, we are married for less than a year. If I would know about it, I would think twice before marrying her. Should I divorce or should I accept? What can I expect from her? How women with autism behave?

Not OP. Spergs are temper tantrum prone small children in adult bodies, with no concept of social norms, right & wrong and no access to empathy.

That infact does make them incredibly dangerous. A mass shooter is 20x more likely to be autistic than to not be. A troon is 95% likely to be autistic, as is a pedo. They're also more likely than the general population to be cat people and science has demonstrated repeatedly that cat people are psycho.

So yep, autists are dangerous. Prenatal testing for autism should be mandatory with a mandatory abortion and sterilisation if it comes back positive.

A lot of autistic women “mask” a lot to fit in. Masking is copying other people’s mannerisms to appear normal, and some autistic people unconsciously do it.

That or autistic women were just perceived as “tomboyish” girls growing up. Like not wearing typical feminine clothes/makeup and being interested in activities associated with boys/men.

False. Autism is diagnosed by way of a multipart standardised diagnositic instrument, conducted by a psychologist or a psychiatrist. No one goes to the doctor and walks out with autism.

Autism literally means the person is genetically incomplete.

No it doesn't mean that the picture is more complex but you are a pseud and don't know what you are talking about.

            >No one goes to the doctor and walks out with autism.

Nope. It actually does mean that. Autism is a genetic neurodevelopmental disorder caused by faulty genes.

            >> Yes you can, you go to 10 different psychiatrist and you get 10 different diagnoses.

That isn't how that works. Diagnosis takes 6-10 sessions for starters.

            Not true. Idiot post.

There is no such thing as aspie and hasn't been since 2013. It's all just autism, no distinction because they're the same thing.

            >It's all just autism, no distinction because they're the same thing.
Then why was a distinction made in the first place? There was one..

Assburgers is just support level 1 autism, or “mild autism” as they like to put it. And they even got the name erased because Dr Hans Asperger was 1488 and sent morons to be put down

            >And they even got the name erased because Dr Hans Asperger was 1488 and sent morons to be put down
No, that wasn't the reason why they removed the diagnosis. Asperger was outed a nazi in 2018, the diagnosis got removed in 2013.

Op if you couldn’t tell, you might be autistic yourself.

Not everyone who has autism isn’t the hand flapping, pants shitting, rocking back-and-forth kind. Sometimes it just refers to someone who’s socially awkward, has OCD tendencies or very specific interests.

Fun fact: Dan Aykroyd, Anthony Hopkins, Daryl Hannah and Billy West were all diagnosed with autism

            >Fun fact: Dan Aykroyd, Anthony Hopkins, Daryl Hannah and Billy West were all diagnosed with autism
Shows how meaningless the diagnosis is. I still wait for the proof that autism actually exists. And I would also like to see the proof that a hand-flapping, screeching intellectually disabled kiddo and a socially shy kid have the same condition.

            There are no misdiagnoses?
There is no way for someone to stop behaving autistically?
How scientific are the diagnostic criteria?
Does it make sense to you that a "moron" and Elon Musk have the same condition especially when the "moron" is a Downie.
How do we know, someone has autism when we don't have a lab test for it? Where's the neurological proof? Is the proof right around the corner, just two more weeks...? Yes?
How is our understanding of autism not based on entirely subjective values. What does it mean to be "abnormal"?
When did it become normal for every little quirk to be called "autistic"?

You were raised to believe that we are broken goods not worthy of a place in society but that is not true. For the most part we are just socially impaired. Autism by definition is a sociodevelopmental disorder. That is what we were to society before the medical community coined the term. I will admit we are mentally deficient but does that justify us being dehumanized? How would you feel if you were treated with soul sucking contempt your whole life because of preconceived notions? Objectively speaking, are we really as broken as society believes we are? Just give her a chance anon.

Autism is how the whole world lived in the past. You'd think you could meet a super socially flexible mega "Chad" in the middle ages? You just have to look at their weird idea of fashion to know everyone was autistic until the industrial revolution and it's mass urbanization.

Autism is how God intends life to be.

Already in his shoes anon, im married to an autist woman and that is why I have no clue why OP is crying over it. Oh nooo my wife is terminally socially anxious and has a few quirky hyperfixations on niche shit, i need to divorce! Big fricking deal. If OP does divorce I hope his next girl is a BPD, then he’ll know how moronic he was for losing the autist woman. Autist chicks are so low maintenance its not even funny, just give them a lego set and they’re content.

          Anonymous

How exactly low maintenance is your wife? Describe her so OP can decide if it’s worth keeping his or not.

            Anonymous

Absolutely not. My wife is my wife, OP’s wife is OP’s wife. Just because they’re both autist women doesn’t mean they’re the same entity. And with that said, OP apparently loved her enough to wed her before the autistic diagnosis.

That means she always had autism, and he loved her anyway. Now the diagnosis is out and he acts late and surprised as if it’s all gonna change when the only thing that changed was a single label, a word, and he wants to divorce lol. You ask me OP isn’t the brightest man around for that backwards logic. That or maybe he has other complaints with his marriage he ain’t talking about, and this autism diagnosis is the scapegoat to pin all of the marriage’s inadequacies on.

            Anonymous

Fair enough then. My experience is overall satisfactory, no mind games, no arguing and its been three years, when we met she showered me with gifts and affection, and still to this day gives me affection each morning when I wake up and before bed. The only flaws worth mentioning is her self-conscious neurotic anxiety, always putting herself down or giving up too easy. She dislikes phone calls and surprises, and hates changes in routine. I hate routine, so there’s a lot of stepping on each others toes but we make it work and even laugh about it. She requires verbal affirmations but struggles to give it out for not knowing how to express it well. Which works for me because I am more physical and she serves that itch very well.

I’ve dated normal chicks, adhd chicks, and regrettably a BPD chick. And of those it was the autist chick who I put a ring on, because it’s so comfortable and easy going and peaceful compared to the girls I fricked with.

Woman here. I’ve often wondered if my social anxiety and constantly feeling overwhelmed and disorganized meant I was actually on the spectrum. That or it was due to bullying and growing up with a narcissist mother that criticized everything I say or do so I constantly worry what’s considered “socially acceptable”. My mom would snap at me for having different tastes from her or would say I’m nasty due to the tone of my voice.

My sisters suspected I was autistic as a kid because I was obsessed with Pokemon and Sonic growing up, but what kid wasn’t? I still like these franchises out of nostalgia but I outgrew them early on. I then became obsessed with anime in my teens/early 20s, but I’ve lost interest in that too.
