So, does this mean they allow themselves to get raped, since like you said they are capable of fighting off a man? Are you saying they want to get raped?

I can believe it, cougars and lynx are very risk adverse predators. I've heard stories of people holding them at arms length by poking at them with long sticks and walking backwards to their car several miles. They don't go in for the kill until they feel like you're done fighting and/or keep your back to them.

I always think cougars go after bikers. Something about that speed is just orrestoble to them. Especially a 60 year old woman right around that speed where you are just fun enough to chase bit slow enough to catch easily.

I'm sad for the poor kitty but I can see why the ladies held it captive since it was trying to eat theor friend pretty aggressively and could have still escaped once it realized it was outnumbered and in a fight.

The wisdom is once an animal learns it can attack humans it'll just keep doing it because modern humans are easy prey. The only way to keep predators in-line is to make sure anything that dares to attack a human dies. Only the human-shy ones pass on their genes and behaviors.

A single man of any age would have done better, for example, by not aggravating a shy predator so much it wants to kill you.

thank you, thats what I've been saying. the animal was healthy, not sick, not starving, in broad daylight. they started screaming at it by their own admission. they antagonized it every step of the way and then wouldn't even let it escape. they should be in prison.

          Anon, actually read

Looking big and intimidating is literally the best thing to do if you encounter a wild animal. The article itself notes this is part of the wildlife guidelines. A scared predator won't normally attack unless it's cornered, or defending something important (cubs, but this one was a male.)

, screaming at it and scaring it away is literally what you're supposed to do. As for letting it go? After it had just tried to murder one of them? That animal was now a man-eater and was going to get shot regardless before it ate someone's toddler.

shooting wild animals for attacking people after the fact, is stupid. the animal doesn't have human intelligence. you might aswell shoot everything capable of attacking humans if you want to follow that logic.

They didn't antagonize it, it simply attacked a passing cyclist. Killing it was necessary, a predator that thinks humans are prey will continue to hunt humans. In fact, the more injured/crippled a predator is, the more likely it'll be to hunt humans in the future, and all the wounds it suffered in the process of trying to kill the woman were more or less necessary to save her. It's actually unusual for a predator to be as stubborn as this one was, since one woman was apparently stabbing it while another was choking it. Normally the minute it got any serious wounds it'd try to retreat. Something was probably already wrong with it.

I can't imagine the incompetence of the medical personnel if rabies wasn't the first thing they looked for, but in our modern hell-scape perhaps they were all pajeets with fake degrees or something.

rabies results in death 100% of the time. When you have rabies you are dead and there is zero you can do. The only way to prevent is rabies vaccine within a certain period, like 3-10 days, during the virus' incubation period. Taking vaccines can cost you 10s of thousands of dollars even with health insurance and have tons of side effects. The only way to not have to take shots is if it undergoes surgery is to take the animal's brain to a lab to be analyzed. So if you don't have the dead animal to analyze, you take the shot or else you might 100 percent die.

Technically it's not 100%, just 99.9%, they've had some success basically freezing people long enough to cure the rabies. They get severe brain damage though so it's not even worth it.

Interesting I didn't know that. Several years back there was a tragic story of a kid who was bit by a bat with rabies stuck in his swimming pool. Kid shrugged it off because it was insignificant wound and parents never knew. Kid died a slow and painful death of rabies and the parents were helpless. Nature is fricking cruel.

You are a moron. Cougars don't have any feelings for people. We are just prey. They will stalk you and swiftly kill you, especially children, for as long as it takes to kill them. The only way to stop cougar attacks is to simply not live in North America, which isn't going to happen.

They could have made themselves bigger to scare it off, if they were walking or they wouldn't have gotten far enough (19 miles on their trip that day) to make it into cougar territory, plus they would have all been in a gang and on foot together to make a stand instead of their friend getting yanked off her bike and dragged into a ditch or whatever.

Four other women threw rocks at it, tried to choke it, hit it with sticks, and stabbed it. You can tell they're spoiled city women because one of them had a fricking knife and it took them 30 minutes to fight it off, not even kill it, when the obvious thing to do is repeatedly stab it in the throat with the knife until it bleeds out from a punctured aorta or can't breath and starts to suffocate. And we know they had good access to its throat because they were trying to CHOKE it.

Weird how so many mountain lions are encroaching on humans. Wonder if somethings going on? Maybe they're trying to fatten up as much as they can before something happens where it makes it hard to get food? Maybe that's why they're not being as careful as they usually are? Probably nothing I'm sure.
