Would you ever date a girl that Couldn't Speak?

And she could only communicate via sketchpad and sign language? Or would that be a dealbreaker?

    yeah sure why not
sounds inconvenient but being able to speak is still much smaller than other factors i would consider
do you know someone like that? ive never met a mute

If she was born a mute, sure. That just means she'd have to get my attention physically which would be really cute.

      >If she was born a mute, sure.
Why would this matter? People can lose their voice in other ways.

I wasn't thinking when posting that, to be honest. First thought was something congenital.

    I would.
I don't see why it would be a deal breaker.
It would be cute to watch her blush as she reads my lovey dovey messages.
    But I can only dream.

Muteness is probably the easiest disability to deal with. It would take awhile to learn to read sign language though.

what kind of mute? autism-based mutism? from birth or injury? trauma mutism?
different types ought to be approached differently

      >the easiest disability to deal with
even more in modern times, with TTS and a standardized sign language

Do you have an inability to produce speech, deafness, or is it selective mutism? I was basically a mute for the first 2 years of college. That period of my life seems like a fever dream now. I mean I'm still quiet and introverted, but not nearly as severely as back then. Trauma can do terrible things. I think that's why I related to the woman in The Isle so much. Our actions speak a lot when words falter.

Its crazy how some people choose to be mute for a year. It's like you're a real life silent protagonist that just watches everything

pretty sure i'd be ok with it, i guess
i don't talk much myself irl so that'd be interesting, learning sign language would be a b***h though
i'd still speak normally to her instead of sign language however

This honestly sounds ideal. It should be a surgical option for all gf owners.

Sometimes I don't like talking at all so we could communicate like animals maybe. What are the chances that would scare the hoes away?

I would love that actually. Blind, deaf, mute, crippled something where they dont want to depend on me but end up doing it and i can try my best to be dependable for them to show how much i treasure them

Oddly specific thing to ask anon but i'd say i'm perfectly fine with something like that. It's not like i speak much myself.

You don't know that anon. Love knows no bounds.

That would be very cute. I think humans are more thoughtful and expressive when writing so it could kind of be a plus. I would probably not speak to her either and write with her in her sketchbook. I already write in cursive, so we could both work on our calligraphy together, or create a unique cypher or writing style so no one else can understand what we are writing to each other. It would be very romantic actually.

Its not a deal breaker but it might make things unlikely to work out 🙁

in a vacuum it has zero effect on anything for me so long as we love each other. i think being cheated on or being broken up with by a woman who couldn't speak would make me kill myself though so i wouldn't date her in reality.

that'd be cute she couldn't say no to me fricking her and she'd be totally reliant on me

Yes, I literally would not give a shit. I'd even take the time to learn ASL if it was long-term.

    I'd learn sign language.

I think I speak for a lot of guys when I say that it wouldn't be a problem. Refusing to communicate at all, expecting me to "just know" from your body language, and believes in "if he wanted to he would", is the real dealbreaker. If she can't speak but makes the effort to communicate but in other means I think it's really sweet. A green flag, even.

        To answer your question, eugenics
I fricking HATE breeders; they are a bunch of subhuman monkeys

            I see your point
A world where utilitarian eugenics was universally enforced would be ideal, but I unfortunately do not live in that world
I believe my and my parents' lack of major deformities (including being short) is good enough.
            >Well what if you were deformed or something?
well yes if i discovered that I somehow got cancer and there was a possibility it could pass down to offspring i would refrain from reproduction

not sure why that would ever be a dealbreaker. it's cute and would make me feel bad for her and want to take care of her and make sure she's happy. but i bet i'd be dogshit at learning sign language

  26. 3 weeks ago

Yes. We would invest a lot of time learning telepathy. No problem and deep bonding.

sure that sounds adorable actually. I'd love to take care of a girl like that and have her learn specific cues and signs for anything she needs. writing memos would also be cute. she'd have to be both mute and blind to have them doe unfortunately

thanks anon It's true. I've always wanted to take care of and spoil a gf if I had one and a mute gf sounds perfect for that. I'd learn sign language too if it doesn't prove to be too hard or if the cues method doesn't work or smth

Match made in heaven honestly, I'm a better writer than a speaker...though you didn't specify if she was deaf so I could possibly do both.
Plus sign language is kind of badass.

Reminds me I should start trying to learn sign language again in case the opportunity ever comes up for me to use it.

  30. 3 weeks ago

Yeah, why not? Like seriously, that's such a nothing issue. Are you nice? Are you willing to help me becone a better person? Do you love me? No, of course you don't. That's why we're not together. It has nothing to do woth your autism. Beatch

It's adorable but let's be real, it would be unsafe for her to leave the house alone so that would be a big problem. Someone who had no way to make any sound would be extremely easy to rob / kidnap / whatever shit people would think of if they knew, I'd need to know she was okay

  32. 3 weeks ago
    Anonymous

sure i learned asl in hs its fun so already know that bit
in serious convo i tend to go about things slow so wouldn't mind waiting for them to put together a response however (or just sign language)
i tend to like sort of quiet and calm atmospheres and it seems like they'd facilitate that.

  33. 3 weeks ago
    Anonymous

Sure. It'd be cute if she just wanted to hear me rant a lot and watch stuff in silence.

  34. 3 weeks ago
    Anonymous

yeah i'd learn sign for her, that would be pretty cool

  35. 3 weeks ago
    Anonymous

    Hard to say.
Seems all the anons consider this short term, but in long term, there are many aspects about being with a mute that would become aggravating if you aren't ready for them.
Seems everyone wants an autistic girlfriend, yet they don't get what autism in women entails.
I don't think it's a dealbreaker, but it will definitely be a challenging hurdle that should be considered if it's worth overcoming.

There's probably a boomer joke out there about how amazing this'd be
