Your childhood nostalgia shouldn't make you feel demoralised, it should make you feel motivated and hopeful of something better.
I am only telling you this, because I had a similar dream and a similar experience of feeling dejected afterwards, and my mental health only got worse until someone I care about reminded me that I likely regret not taking opportunities out of my emotions (fear of failure, comfort in ignorance or laziness etc). He reminded me that I will have even greater regret in the future if I do nothing but wallow in self-pity while going through my childhood nostalgia.
I am glad he did, because I don't think I could have handled a worse feeling of regret, and just that thought alone snapped me out of my cycle of nostalgic ruminations
