It has little to do with X having more genes. First off the the second X chromosome is inactive in women. Second the reason men die earlier is because their bodies run at a higher clock rate and thus break down earlier. Young men are less susceptible to diseases than younger women but opposite is true in old age. Men have higher metabolism, heart rate, blood pressure etc so their organs work harder and more things to wrong. More cells regenerate which also means higher cancer risk.
