A couple of years ago I left a city I hated and my tech job and moved far away. I needed to get the frick away from everything. For a while I was considering getting a camper and living in Salton Sea or doing some Chris McCandless shit but instead I got a place on the far edge of a different city. It's not roughing it but I cut off almost everyone I know and made a few false leads to confuse people looking for me on social media.
I also left my girlfriend and the life we had together. We weren't working out. Since I've gone (somewhat) hermit I've noticed that EVERYONE is brainwashed by social media. No one actually lives but instead either pretends to be the person they wish they were on social media or they are desperately trying to keep up with it.
This is especially true for women. Even worse they try to imitate the women they see on sitcoms. Since everything in media is now geared towards women they make funny women gross, unhygenic, loose or annoying. Since women have no empathy they don't understand men don't think that's funny so to try to impress me they think it's cute to act either disgusting or annoying, sometimes both. Now that I cut myself off from society for a while I found it really disconcerting. What are the ramifications of women mimicking disgusting behavior? Are these women empowering?

As someone that almost never watches tv, netflix, and has no social media, it's always surprising and unsettling to me when I occasionally do see some part of some netflix drama and the way the characters behave and interact with each other because I realize then shows like this are why people, especially girls act in what to me is almost like alien behavior. They normalize, romanticize and dramatize mental illness, the characters are portrayed as incredibly empathetic and good people but will randomly do or say horrible things to some random person who is kind of an outsider and it is just a funny thing, over dramatizing and spiritualizing random various things and acting likee it's super deep and profound, and of course being incredibly snarky.

I don't understand the mechanism or have any proof of it but I have an intuitive feeling that using marijuana while watching tv is a big part of it. When I first used it I felt very paranoid but felt more emotional and better able to connect with people which was hard for me. I think the paranoia people get with weed is because their brain realizes it is vulnerable.
